Optimising localised roaming data collection?

> Background

Data is said to be localised when it includes a location obtained from a GPS reading. Roaming applications therefore include collection of this data using roaming equipment:

Mobile reading of domestic or public meters,

Retrieval and collection of localised data,

  Localised information for passengers,

  Traceability of goods or people,

  Vehicle fleet management (positioning, itineraries)

  …

> Example: Remote data collection of measurements taken by environmental sensors

A health and safety consultancy in charge of an environmental risk management system has increased its frequency of readings by sending all geolocalised measurements taken by their technicians in real time.
This system of mobile collection of measurements taken by fixed sensors enables the monitoring of health-sensitive areas. This makes alarm systems more reactive, enabling appropriate procedures to be initiated more quickly
.

> A practical example: traceability of goods containers

Carriers offer their clients the possibility of following the location of the goods entrusted to them in real time on the Internet. Feedback mechanisms for information and alerts, for example should the goods leave the pre-programmed geographical areas, facilitate the traceability of goods, preventing loss. The quality of service offered to the final customer is truly suited to their operating needs.
