Kerlink continues international growth with expansion of Senet’s LPWA network in Las Vegas area

Kerlink marked its first large network rollout in the U.S. in January with the expansion of Senet’s Low Power Wide Area Network (LPWA) in the Las Vegas area. Completed in time to provide indoor connectivity for IoT demonstrations at CES 2018, Senet’s regional network will support a variety of commercial offerings, market trials and proofs of concept for area companies, businesses, municipalities and service providers.

Carlos Briceno, senior director of sales and business development for Kerlink Inc., the company’s U.S. subsidiary, noted that this deployment is in line with Kerlink’s international expansion strategy, and follows nationwide rollouts across Europe, and in South America, New Zealand and India.

We are pleased to be working with trusted partners like Kerlink to bring geolocation and other enhanced features to market in order to meet the demands of mass- scale IoT deployments.’

Senet, which owns and operates the largest public, carrier-grade LoRa network in North America, is a leading provider of cloud-based software, global connectivity service platforms and network build-out for the Internet of Things.

The roll out, which is powered by Kerlink’s 64-channel Wirnet iBTS LoRaWAN gateways, also represents the first production network in North America to support LoRaWANä geolocation. Employing a different technology than GPS, LoRaWAN geolocation eliminates the requirement for costly and power-hungry processing that GPS requires.

Demand for geolocation/GPS services is growing rapidly: Machina Research forecasts that in 2020 5 billion connected devices – one-third of the world’s 15 billion connected devices – will rely on geodata.

Strong ecosystem partnerships and critical technical advantages have allowed Senet to become a leading IoT connectivity-software and solutions provider,” said Dave Kjendal, CTO of Senet.
